After earning his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Finance from Winthrop University, Jim Coman began a successful futures trading career with SICCO, LLC and quickly rose to Senior Partner with the firm in 1990. After 10 years as a member of the NYBOT, (formerly Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange) Jim retired from trading and moved his family to Charleston, South Carolina. Jim was hired in the Accounting Department of Dunes West Golf Club in 1999 and handled all of the daily accounting and human resources needs of the club, a role that would plant the seeds for what would become Jim's passion. In 2003, Jim joined Glasspro Inc, a leading regional retailer in auto glass installations. Here Jim spent 3 .5 years studying operations and learning marketing from local marketing legend Paul Heinauer. In 2007 Jim left Glasspro to begin a Quality Assurance Division at Coastal Glass Distributors located in North Charleston. Jim was able to gain extensive auditing experience as he worked to grow ABS into a full time accounting/tax services practice. Jim resigned his position at Coastal in August of 2009 to pursue his dream full time.
Educationally, Jim is currently earning his MBA at Charleston Southern University and will graduate in August 2010. In 2009 Jim sat for and passed the IRS Special Enrollment Exam and earned the prestigious Enrolled Agent designation in 2010. The EA is the highest level of tax certification in the US and one bound by strict ethics and continuing education requirements which are reported directly to the IRS.
Jim and his wife Rhonda, and their 8 year old daughter Riane currently reside in Mt. Pleasant with their Westie Fuzzy and Yorkie mix Addy.
Jim feels extremely fortunate that he has been able to discover his vocational passion and calling in life. It's an honor for him to be able to use the skills he has developed after 20 years of business experience to help other small businesses.
